PTSD can happen to anyone and is not a sign of weakness. This presentation will focus on trauma and PTSD, symptomatology, biology and the ways how effectively this can be treated. Four decades of PTSD research will be summarized; it is a young disorder that started being properly understood only from 1980 with incorporation in DSMIII. Trauma-focused psychotherapies are still the most highly recommended type of treatment for PTSD. Medication is mostly supportive to psychotherapy. Yet, there are novel approaches to psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy as well as ways in which they are integrated, e.g. medication assisted psychotherapies, these will be discussed. MDMA is considered as a novel compound serving to assist in complex psychotrauma. The revival will be discussed with focus on promises and other novel breakthroughs.

Post-traumatická stresová porucha (PTSD) môže postihnúť hocikoho a nie je znakom slabosti. Táto prezentácia sa zameria na traumu a PTSD, symptomatológiu, biológiu a spôsobmi liečby. Budú zosumarizované štyri dekády výskumu PTSD; je to mladá porucha, ktorá začala byť správne rozpoznávaná len od 1980, keď bola začlenená do DSMIII. Psychoterapie zaoberajúce sa traumou sú stále najčastejšie odporúčaným typom liečby pre PTSD. Liečivá majú popri psychoterapii najmä podpornú úlohu. Existujú však nové prístupy ku psychoterapii a farmakoterapii a tiež spôsoby, akými su integrované, napr. terapie za pomoci medikácie. O týchto budeme diskutovať. MDMA je považované za novú zlúčeninu, ktorá môže byť použitá pri komplexných psychotraumách. Toto znovuzrodenie bude preberané so zameraním na prísľuby a ďalšie nové pokroky.
